Most herbs are anti-inflammatory, or that they help with healing. Some herbs are great for cleansing, both inside the body and outside. Basil, cilantro (Coriandrum sativum), and dandelion are three that help to cleanse the body when ingested and applied to the skin.
Basil (Ocimum basilica) tastes great on salad and in pasta, but it’s great for acne, purifying, toning and decreasing inflammation and redness. Oh and it’s an antioxidant, so hello, get rid of free radicals.
Dandelion root (Taraxacum) is great for detoxing body and skin. In fact, if you check out the ingredients in most of your teas you’ll see this super star as either root or leaf.
Last but not least is Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum), besides basil, cilantro is probably one of the most popular herbs to eat. It’s one of my favorites. Like seriously, I eat it every day. It also calms and tones the skin. Cilantro can be applied in a toner, face wash or even a mask.
Honestly, I think the rule should be that the items that you love as food, you should seek in your skincare.
